The Nature of Light

I opened my blinds and saw multiple crumbs on what I thought was a clean dining room table. I stared at myself in the bathroom mirror, searching for what I’d just viewed in my rearview mirror as a face full of blemishes and scars. Behold, I saw a beauty staring back at me. I saw myself in light. Then, it occurred to me that light is double-sided in its nature. It exposes the lies hidden in darkness; it exposes uncleanness and sin. At the same time, it reveals hidden truths, beauty, and who we truly are in God’s sight—the very things that the enemy tries to cover up—especially in our darkest hour.

This light…

It reveals hidden truths and discredits the lies.

It uncovers true beauty that was hidden by darkness; it strips darkness of its fraudulent power.

Light…

It allows us to see ourselves in God’s image.

It allows us to have an unencumbered view and perspective of our lives so that we can make clear decisions concerning, people, places, and endeavors—a view from a place of Spirit and truth.

Who is the light and the source of all light?

Jesus!

He is Light, and He is Truth.

Will you allow him to guide you through the darkness of this world; to guide you right into purpose and destiny?

Will you allow him to uncover your hidden beauty, and reveal the true nature of who you are and who you are meant to be in Him?

Say, “Yes,” today.

Ephesians 5:13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.

Psalm 18:28 You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.

Psalm 36:9 For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 3:20-21 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

Matthew 11:29-30 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
